Ok, the situation seems to have been resolved. Thank you to whomever is responsible.

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon. It was working for a few minutes, and while it was working, the text fields showed as multi-line ones. Now, as when it was acting up, they show as text fields. I don't know anything more than that multi-line seems to correlate with it working better.

Ok, I've come to the conclusion that either my iThingy has a gremlin in it, or IOS has a bug, or something strange is indeed going on. The multi-line aspct seems to have not much to do with anything. The multi-line option is only available in landscape mode. I'd forgotten that I'd unlocked orientation. I'm back to square one. I onnnly know that I started having this problem two days ago. I'm officially throwing my hhands in the air for now.

Ok here's what I do from my phone.
Go to the text field, type in what you want to say, then press shift tab on the keyboard or Braille display dots 1 2 with space. If using the virtual Keyboard use the Previous button, it's sort of above the q or 1 button depending on whether you're in letters or numbers. Then that picker will come up. If you lose focus, that picker is bottom middle of your screen, I'd use the touch kind of find it with your finger, I guess they call that explore. Anyway then on that you would slide up and down to make it find the person you want to send your pqn to. You then have to find Done or slide left to make it jump to the Done button and once you tap that find the Send button on the screen.
Someone more of a trainer will do a better explanation but yeah that.
